Motion Sickness

CBD and Motion Sickness

Motion sickness is a very common disturbance of the inner ear.

Living with motion sickness can be very difficult. The condition makes it very hard to travel in transportation like boats, planes, trains, and even cars. Motion sickness can cause cold sweats, pale skin, dizziness, extreme nausea, vomiting, etc. Your sensory organs send messages to your brain controlling your balance and know which way you are facing. These messages are sent by the skin, eyes, muscle, joint sensory receptors and the Central Nervous System.

How CBD Works To Relieve Motion Sickness

Within our bodies we have an endocannabinoid system (ECS) that researchers have found that this system plays a significant role in treating nausea, vomiting and anxiety, all factors someone will encounter when motion sickness begins. According to early studies, CBD supports high anandamide levels. CBD inhibits the fatty acid enzymes that degrade anandamide. The anti-nausea effects of CBD are due in part to the prolonged CB1 receptor activation in the brain.

Dosing Thoughts

Research studies have used doses from 15mg to as high as 600mg. Typical CBD supplements provide 20mg to 25mg. When taking CBD for inflammation, dosing can vary widely depending on the severity of the symptoms you are experiencing. One goal to consider is to use CBD to supplement or possibly replace pharmaceuticals you might be taking. CBD is an all-natural alternative that does not build up in your system and cannot be overdosed.

May we suggest trying one of our CUBED Hemp based CBD Tinctures. Available in 1200mg or 3600mg concentrations, mixed with our exclusive Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Italy or NYS-sourced sunflower seed oil. Our Graduated Sprayer makes it simple to dose properly.

It is important to consult with your healthcare provider before starting any supplement program. Most prescribed medications cannot and should not be stopped all at once.

The standard dosing procedure has been suggested to start with a dose of 10mg to 15mg of CBD twice a day. After a few days, you may want to reduce prescribed meds incrementally while increasing your CBD dosage the following day. Steps of 10mg are suggested to help monitor changes. Monitor your symptoms; be aware of how you feel. Don’t hurry the process. Wait 2 to 3 days between changes. This will allow you to determine the dosing that your body requires to meet your goals, while documenting how your medications interact. Being motion sickness may only occur when put into a particular situation like traveling by car, you should consider taking a moderate dose of 20mg about 1 hour before traveling. Use this base dose to see how you react to the movement. Wait at least 2 hours before taking another do and reduce that dose by half. If the dose you arrived at works, consider that as the starting dose for your next trip. After a few trials you will hopefully arrive at a dose that works for your situation.
