CBD and Leukemia
Leukemia is the most common type of cancer in children.
They account for 28% of all cancers in children. 61,090 people are expected to be diagnosed with leukemia this year. More than 459,058 people are living with leukemia. Every day, 167 Americans are diagnosed with leukemia.
Leukemia is a term for cancers of the blood cells and is classified according to the type of cell that’s affected.
The onset of leukemia can be acute (sudden onset) or chronic (slow onset). In acute leukemia, cancer cells multiply quickly. In chronic leukemia, the disease progresses slowly and early symptoms may be very mild.
How CBD Works To Relieve Leukemia
CBD oil has a dense nutritional content that may help ease the symptoms of leukemia among other health conditions. Full-spectrum hemp extracts contain particularly high levels of antioxidants, vitamins, proteins, and essential fatty acids on top of terpenes, terpenoids, and minerals.
One study found that CBD may be beneficial for leukemia treatment by reducing the rate at which cancer cells spread. CBD may also be able to destroy leukemia cells through cannabidiol-induced apoptosis or cell death.
The more recent study found that cannabinoid use may promote healthy cell development, reduce activity in leukemia cells, and healthy production of white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets.
Interestingly, when cannabinoid intake followed anti-cancer drugs like chemo, it appears results intensified, compared to chemo treatment alone.
Although the National Cancer Institute does not fully endorse CBD oil at this time, they have admitted that CBD may be an effective treatment to alleviate symptoms associated with leukemia.
Dosing Thoughts
Research studies have used doses from 15mg to as high as 600mg. Typical CBD supplements provide 20mg to 25mg. When taking CBD for lupus pain, dosing can vary widely depending on the depth of pain you are experiencing. One goal to consider is to use CBD to replace pharmaceuticals you might be taking. CBD is an all-natural alternative that does not build up in your system and cannot be overdosed.
May we suggest trying one of our CUBED Hemp based CBD Tinctures. Available in 1200mg or 3600mg concentrations, mixed with our exclusive Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Italy or NYS-sourced sunflower seed oil. Our Graduated Sprayer makes it simple to dose properly.
It is important to consult with your healthcare provider before starting any supplement program. Most prescribed medications cannot and should not be stopped all at once.
It has been suggested to start with a dose of 10mg to 15mg of CBD twice a day. After a few days, you may want to reduce prescribed meds incrementally while increasing your CBD dosage the following day. Steps of 10mg are suggested to help monitor changes. Monitor your symptoms; be aware of how you feel. Don’t hurry the process. Wait 2 to 3 days between changes. This will allow you to determine the dosing that your body requires to meet your goals, while documenting how your medications interact.
You may also want to use our topical CBD products which are applied directly to painful joints and muscles.
